Mmmm...love the fact that she's trying to feed it to me! And it complements her attire so well!

Man, I can almost HEAR Trixie yelling with glee. She has a ton of teeth now, too. Have you named the new additions to the fleet, Ben?

Trixie's Grandma works at Glaxo, and this was a company-sponsored carnival.

sugar does not make kids hyperactive...it is usually just the situation involved with the sugar...such as: Birthdays, Halloween, Carnivals...etc. Just a side note.

to anonymous 5:54 poster,
All the science in the world won't dispell the hyperactivity/sugar myth; it's as deeply engrained as the myth that getting cold, rather than exposure to viruses, causes colds. I remember kids using sugar consumption as an excuse for bad behavior in elementary school. Of course that didn't fly with my parents... Chocolate is a different story, but that's the caffeine talking, not the sugar.

I've heard the studies, but I have trouble believing them.

gee teeth. mine has exactly 5. Not that this prevents her from gnawing on the crib, the walls, the coffeetable, books, crayons, my feet, etc,,etc

what a kick ass picture.

Allison,
well look at it this way...do kids get hyper when they eat potatoes, pasta, and other carbohydrates....because except for a small amount of fiber....they are made up of mostly sugar

Huh, interesting. I actually never thought of that.

Mine react more to artificial colorings than the sugar (especially BLUE for some reason).

Looks like Trixie had fun at the carnival. Glad to see she was feeling better.

Hold on a minute...

I know that *I* feel different when I eat a lot of sugar. It actually doesn't get to feeling hyper unless I've consumed three times my body weight, but even before then I get a little jittery, etc. That's why I don't buy into the argument that it's not the sugar in the cake, it's the birthday party around it.

sorry to stir up such a discussion...all i know is that aiden reacts both to large quantities of refined sugar (ie candy, cake, cookies, icecream etc) and food coloring (esp red 40!!!!!). but then again he recieves very limited amounts in his diet. anywho, no matter what your belief this isnt a debate forum (as im sure ben will agree). so to each their own and again, sorry.

Well, even if it doesn't make your kids hyper too much sugar is bad anyway, kids these days are too fat!! Please watch the kid's sugar intake. Let them be kids and enjoy it but please limit it.

I agree with Nina! But fun is fun...if we're going to give our kids an occasional treat, cotton candy isn't the worst. There's actually not as much sugar in it as you'd think - it's way better than a can of soda pop or even powdered drinks!
