I'll probably regret it, but I let Trixie practice her lock-picking skills on the car-seat buckle because it's a nice way to kill 15 minutes. Matter of fact, she loves messing with the buckle so much, we can use it a reward. On the incentive scale, a few minutes alone with the car-seat ranks higher than either stickers or tattoos. She's had a fascination with it for a while now.

Isn't nice to practice for not only to buckle herself in but let herself out in the(God forbid) occasion that there were a minor accident and you were not able to get to her out for some reason?

eliot loves to study his seat buckle too, but apparently is still in awe of its protective powers. the other day he climed in by himself while we clicked in collette and forgot to do his buckles (come on just this once!) and as we were driving away from the house he started screaming "im not in, im not in! you for got theeeeese" as he clutched his straps. of course we pulled over. good to know someone is paying attention...

Wow, am I the only one who thinks she looks about FIVE here? She looks so grown up - like my older son's age! Maybe it is the tucked in shirt, or possibly the tatoo....

I thought she looked so cute here, like a little scientist, until I saw her early waking time today and then I thought the cuteness just made her look all the more evil - a tricky and beguiling disguise. Maybe this is why she woke so early, she needed to get up again to think some more about how to Houdini her way out of the carseat.

Better watch it. Our daughter learned to unbuckle and would occasional jump out of the seat, reach over the front seat and put her hands over my eyes (I was driving!) and say "Guess who, mom."

AAARGH! Yesterday, on the way home from daycare, Maddie got her buckle undone. What do you do, other than scream at them? (She's Trixie's age.)
