Is this an old picture, or is that still the infant car carrier type thingy? (I ask because of the handle.)

I know I'm getting all in your business, but if it's an infant carseat then Trixie's probably getting big for it.

I thought they had to stay in the infant type seat until 20 lbs and 1 year old?
(Just curious for my own growing-like-a-weed daughter)

Corinne, most of them are 20 pounds and 30 inches long. This one of Trixie is old enough it probably wasnt 30 inches long. They've recently extended the length on them, but she actually fits good in it height weighs because she still has room at the top. Their heads can go up to two inches from the top and they are ok and it looks like Trixie had about 4 inches in this picture.

Corinne, they make convertible seats that are for kids who are 20+ lbs but under 1 year that you can face backwards until they get to be a year old. I had to do that with my son b/c he was a chub and hit 20 lbs at around 9 months and totally outgrew the infant seat. We bought this carseat and it worked wonderfully, and we'll be able to use it with our next baby as a newborn all the way up to the weight limits.

As an addendum (in case anyone cares), the latest clarification on the infant carseat recommendations is that kids should ride rear facing until at least one year of age. The longer they ride rear facing, the better actually. And that goes for infant carriers as well as convertible car seats.

"But her/his legs are too long and they fold up against the back of the seat. Isn't that uncomfortable? Won't they be injured ina collision?"

The kids aren't uncomfortable with their legs folded up... They're much more bendy than you or I and by the time that could even be an issue, many of them are verbal enough to let you know. And in a collision, it's the spine and neck that car seats are meant to protect, not the legs. On the off chance that his/her legs are hurt, its better them than the head.

Just reporting what I've researched...

Thanks for the feedback. It's always good to get other parents' input.
And, to see the Trixie cuteness... :)
