A Change in Format

I’m switching up the format here a little. I just can’t pretend that I’m going to write anthropological stories anymore. Those stories were always driven by data. And the data, as far as Trixie is concerned, is just about played out. Anyway, I’m leaving the data collecting up to the new parents. They are the ones who are going to get their 5-month old on an overnight schedule, and work on potty training their toddlers. I’m happy to leave those days behind us.

I’m taking a page from a really well done blog which I don’t think gets enough attention: Jamie Madigan’s jmadigan.net. I don’t read it enough, but he created a great weekly format for his daughter. Weekly summaries make a lot of sense to me so I’m going to give it a try.

Wow, thanks so much for the kind words and the plug, Ben! I’m glad you enjoy the Sam’s Story updates and I hope anyone else who wanders over does as well.

And I think you’re right about the weekly format. Having a hard deadline (well, give or take a day) has really kept me on target where I think things would be much more sparse if I just planned on updating whenever. It forces you to make the update, even if you don’t think you have anything to write about. Because most times you find that you have plenty to write about once you’re sitting down to do it. I’ve been late a few times, but I’ve never entirely missed a weekly update in 119 weeks and counting.

    Thanks again!

Ben, I totally agree–Jamie’s site rocks! I found it via the “TTU Links” almost two years ago, and I have been reading it regularly ever since. I hope his site gets some deserved recognition from your mention. 🙂 And I look forward to reading regular updates about Trixie, as well!

This site is going to be the death of me. I already check Trixie and ShotgunDaddy every day. Now I’m catching up on Jamie too, all the while feeling more inadequate about my own lack of creative energy. How can I get my baby blog fix while my list of must read baby blogs keeps increasing??? *pout* Nobody told me about this when I got pregnant.

Yes Jamie site is terrific! And Sammy is such a cutie!
