I'm putting you in this freezing bath for your own good

Trixie is sick. First time since the massive exposure when we started school. She’s been home with me all day and sporting a 101-103.5 fever. It’s the .5 that gets me. 103, I can deal with. 103.5, it’s time to dump her in the bath. Putting a sick toddler in a luke-cool bath is about as much fun as putting a cat in any bath. Luckily we had Trixie’s front claws clipped recently.

The good news is that Jenn just gave the word that the fever seems to have finally broken. Her head is sweaty, but her body is no longer radiating heat like an open stove. It’s a big relief. She’s been pretty miserable today. All she’s eaten is 3 popsicles and box of 3-week old Chinese food. It breaks your heart.

In other news, who wants to guess what Hannah* has been up to? Haven’t heard from her in a while, right? Well… sometimes it’s hard to get online and surf when you’re busy taking care of twins. Yep — I’m happy to congratulate Hannah and company on the recent healthy births of Carina and Henry. They have no idea what a cool mom they are getting — it’s just too bad hannah’s next comment on this site will probably be around 2008. Good luck guys, we’re thinking of you!

OK…it’s my fault. I’ve been stewing because there haven’t been any new posts in so long. I really didn’t mean for Trixie to get sick in order for you to post. I’m so sorry. I hope she’s back to normal tomorrow.

And congratulations to Hannah and big sis Sophie. I can’t imagine the work involved with twins…but it’s double the love and joy, right?

  2. Oh my gosh, another Henry?!?! We thought we were choosing such an unusual name and now it’s everywhere. Man, I bet it will be in the top 100 for 2005.

Big congrats to Hannah on the birth of her twins. As an adult twin I can tell you it is a super special bond. I hope you get lots of helpers for the early days and months.

  3. Kelli says:

Glad Trixie’s fever has broken. Hopefully she’ll be feeling better soon.

And congrats to Hannah and family on the twins! Wow…is she a beta tester for Trixie Telemetry? Cause *that* would be cool.

Parker and I were really sick last week and I had a high fever–Poor little man did too but it only lasted three days. TheRoto Virus is what got us. Oh man, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. Well maybe my worst enemy–but certianly not his friends or on any children.

Hope Trixie and Co. is feel much better today. Hate it when little people are sick!!!

Congrats, Hannah two wonderful bundles to love and teach. Am sure Sophie will be a big help!!!
    Oh and Daddy, too!!!!!

Is anybody else concerned about the “3 day old Chinese food” comment??!

Love the website. I stumbled up on it when I was surfing and its great. Good to see there are others out there dealing with the same day to day chaos. I have four girls-3, 4, 6 and 7 1/2.

  7. Judy says:

    Congrats to Hannah!

And, I hope Trixie is feeling better today – that was one short nap she took this afternoon!

  8. Y says:

It would only be fitting to send congrats to old school hannah through this site…because she told her “old school” friend (my sister) about it, who told me about it! So really it’s all Hannah’s fault that I am addicted to checking in!

  9. Carabeth says:

Ah, but it was 3 *week* old chinese food. That’s better, isn’t it Sherry?

  10. mom2four says:

    Feel better soon Trixie!

Congrats to Hannah! Get plenty of rest, and take lots of pictures, because time really does fly by; and it does get easier soon to take care of twins! I can’t believe my twins are 3 1/2 now; seems like just yesterday I was wondering if I would ever see my feet again 😉

I love the website! Someone else must really love it too cause I found it linked from another site I came across looking for baby ducks on Google Images! Lol! Anyways, it’s amazing how much effort you must put into this. I’m not sure which would be more exhausting! Looking after a toddler or keeping this site updated! 0_o

Anyhow, keep up the good work. I have a niece about roughly the same age. She was born a few weeks premature in August instead tho. Interesting to see the parallels!

    Hi Ben and Jenn,

Is Trixie feeling better this weekend? or she is still showing signs of the fever and generally yuckiness of being sick.

  14. benmac says:

The fever has been gone since Friday, but she’s still having a rough time this weekend. We’re hoping she’ll be better tomorrow.

  15. Lisanne says:

I hope that your little girl feels better soon!

It’s not that I don’t love reading your entries, Ben… but I have to say that Hannah’s posts were what I looked forward to the most. I believe only a person finding a gold coin on the beach could experience the same excitment as I do when I stumble upon a Hannah entry. I think it’s only right that you have a tribute article to Hannah and bundle all of her posts together somewhere… and it should definitely include the “neglect-o-mat” entry. (Congratulations on the twins, Hannah!)
