They will use the potty when they are ready, and if you try and push it, you could set them back. The more you force it the less interest they will have. Having said this, I am hoping my son is potty trained before his 2nd birthday and plan to get a potty very soon to start him off..he is 10months old. My mother claims my sisters and I were all potty trained before our 2nd birthday. If Trixie is using the potty even sporadically I say GREAT! Any success if fantastic! This may be because of a different training we've undergone; we both tend to read to her while she sits in our lap, so she connects book with lap pretty readily. Wed, 28 Jul 2004 13:29:17 +0000 http://www.trixieupdate.com/wp/2004/07/27/the-year-in-review-waste-management/#comment-1223 I got this tip from readers digest- works like a charm- was used by this family with quads- :) They lined them all up on their respective potties, and got out a story book and a bag of M&M's (experience shows, also works with cheerios, etc)- they sat down and read the story, and when one of the kids "accidently" peed, they cheered and gave him M&M's and wiped him and sat him BACK on the potty- it didn't take long for the Quads to figure this one out- and they were all trained around their first bday- :) I got this tip from readers digest- works like a charm- was used by this family with quads- :)

No problem ... she'd NEVER pottied at night from the time she was about 3 months. Once she decided she was ready for the big-girl potty during the day, that was pretty much it. She's maybe had one accident since then (and she's now six.) My wife and I made the classic mistake by figuring, "Heck, that was easy ... Our 2nd (also a girl) should be a breeze." Now 2 1/2 years later, she may go through a couple weeks of using the potty to pee, then go days with refusing. None of the "tricks" work...she's just not ready. So, as usual, your milage may vary. I'm shocked to hear about the ages kids are becoming potty trained. I was potty trained about 1 1/2 yrs old. It took my younger brother a little longer...around 2 1/2. Not sure what technique(s) our parents used, but I wasn't expecting diaper changes after 3 yrs old. As a hopeful mother-to-be, I'd be interested to hear about any successful techniques/tricks as I'm sure it would also help Ben & Jenn. BTW, Welcome back Ben. Hope you had a nice "vacation." Usually that just means taking them in there and letting them sit on it for a few mins each day. Poor Trixie is only a few days shy of 1!
