Trixie’s overnight sleep cycles are greatly improving. Out of the last 10 days, she has only woken up twice in the middle of the night. And for the other eight nights she averaged close to 10 hours each! This is a welcome improvement, but we still have the little issue of her daytime schedule. Will it ever stabilize? Will we one day finally be able to kiss the 38-minute catnap goodbye? Weigh in on the latest Trixie poll!

My 4 year old never napped during the day excpet when she was very new. At first I was pissed, thinking is this child ever going to give me a break? I have now learned to take her “no nap” policy as a blessing in disguise. If I can hang in there all day with no naps, she is so tired that she is in bed by 7:30 every night and sleeps until I wake her up the next morning…HEAVEN! While I realize that Callie (my girl) is alot older than Trixie, it has been this way since she was about 10 months old. Gotta take the good with bad, right?
Hmm . . . I want to vote “another couple of weeks” b/c I think it’s true in part. She has shown the ability to nap for longer than 38 minutes = progress. But . . . and I don’t want to burst your bubble, I’m also tempted to vote “don’t hold your breath” b/c even after she starts napping regularly, which I think she will, she will go through many, many permutations of non-ideal sleep distribution patterns, each as mysterious and infuriating as the last. Just when you let your guard down, she’ll pull a “gotcha” (smiling all the while), and she will, indeed, have gotten you, again. Sorry to tell you this, but I think you at least deserve the truth. Don’t shoot the messenger.
