Double Whammy

Well, the past week and a half has been exhausting. Sleep training has taken a toll on both of us (maybe all three of us, but who knows what’s going on in Trixie’s head.) Her sleep schedule is surprisingly unpredictable. Maybe I set myself up for a fall, but I expected to tease out some kind of pattern. There are a few constants, but nothing that helps predict whether she’s going to start screaming at 3:30 in the morning.

In related news, a second front has opened in the Battle to Raise Trixie. Jennifer has developed Mastitis. This is a very unfortunate, but treatable, infection related to clogged milk ducts. The exact cause is hard to pin down, so we’re just going to be paying extra attention and spending extra time to make sure it clears up. This is pretty much the ultimate price a nursing mom can pay, so let’s have a moment of silence for our fallen hero. The good news is that the condition does not affect the milk supply, so Trixie is still getting the good stuff.

Jennifer, I’m sorry you’ve got mastitis. I remember some rough times during nursing but never got a diagnosis. And the sleep deprivation…my top wish for myself while raising my kids was a good night sleep. I still feel like I’m trying to catch up on all the sleep I lost!
I love looking at the pictures. Saucer eyes was great.
    Love,

Oh no! Mastitis is awful. So sorry Jennifer. Hope it’s all cleared up by now. I think I alternated cold and warm compresses and that made it better. Breastfeeders are troopers indeed. Especially pumpers! Feel better. Hannah
