Operational Difficulties

Sorry that posting has been light lately. We are currently trying to move Trixie from our bed to her crib, or solitary, as I like to call it. This has not been an easy sell. Our bed is nice and warm, her crib unfamiliar. Putting her to sleep is as tricky as defusing a bomb; everyone whispers, there are no sudden movements and if something goes wrong there’s a lot of screaming.

However, there is a larger problem than the sleeplessness and extra 4 hours it takes to put her to sleep. The problem, as it relates to the Trixie Update, is that my graphics computer is in the nursery/office. I belatedly recognize that this was a poor apartment layout decision.

Up until now, the site graphics — including the Picture of the Day — were done when I had a free minute, which invariably was when Trixie was asleep. Unfortunately, now I can’t do anything when Trixie is asleep because I can’t get near the computer without her waking up. Needless to say, we are aware of the problem, and are currently trying to figure out a way to fix it. Thanks for your patience.

Tip for getting Trixie to sleep in her crib (it worked for me with Henry): Take the head stablizer thing from her car seat and put that in her crib to sleep on. It just might make her think that she is still being held. I think one of the reasons why this works, is since that stabilizer thing is usually terry cloth, it doesn’t get as cold as sheets do. Good luck!!

Have you tried giving Trixie some tiger milk in her last bottle? Recipe: as much scotch as you like in as much milk as you like. It works on me — only kidding!

Maybe you should try that yourself! It’s really good!

A classic TTU remark: I still think of this line about defusing a bomb whenever I’m setting Isaac down after he’s asleep.
